A perfect winter trek offering pure pristine wilderness. Apart from the shepherds and a few locals not many people walk this trail. The Binsar temple where we camp at the end of day 2 is a Shiva Temple and the deity is highly revered all across Garhwal and Kumaon. The walk from here on goes through spectacular forests still pretty much untouched by humans. The wide pasturelands of Dudhatoli is the favourite grazing ground for the locals and commands a panoramic view of the snow clad Himalayan peaks on one side and the low mountains on the other.
Day 1 : Delhi to Pauri (1635m)
Board the morning Shatabdi Express departing New Delhi at 7am. Reach Hardwar at 11:30 am and drive 5 hrs to Pauri. Alternatively drive 8-9 hrs to Pauri.
Day 2 : Drive Pauri to Peethsain(2256m) and trek to Binsar(2490m)
Drive 5 hrs from Pauri to reach Peethsain. Have lunch and proceed on the trek to the Binsar temple. An easy walk for 2-3 hrs to reach the temple surrounded by the thick dense forest. We camp just by the temple.
Day 3 : Binsar to Dudhatoli (3050m) 4-5 hrs
Have an easy start and walk through one of the most beautiful walks in the Himalayas. The mixed Himalayan forest have oak, rhododendron, chestnut, maple, and deodar trees.
Day 4 : Dudhatoli to Bhararisan (2240m) to Haridwar
A short walk to the edge of the spur and then descend steepily for about an hour to the river. The descent is quite steep and will be quite tricky if the trail is snow covered. From here it’s a level walk to the roadhead where the jeeps would be waiting to drive us to Haridwar to board the overnight Mussoorie Express.
Day 5: Arrive Delhi 7:20 am. Trip ends.
